Bill Beard has served as University School’s Varsity Hockey Coach since 1998. Under his leadership, the team won the state tournament in 2003 and was the state runner-up in 2002 and 2004. In addition, the team won six district championships and four Baron Cups. Mr. Beard serves as Assistant Dean of Students, Director of Financial Aid, and Assistant Director of Admission at the Hunting Valley Campus. He also teaches physical education. Mr. Beard earned his BA from Princeton University. “What I enjoy most about coaching is the time spent with the boys at the rink,” he said. “As a head coach, you realize that the team’s success is more affected by the players and assistant coaches than by you.”
